Grey’s Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey isn’t the only celebrity in the Mojave desert for a celebrity car racing. Owen Wilson’s brother Luke, hip hop star Snoop Doggy Dog and Bothers & Sisters actor Rob Lowe are also fans of desert car racing. All three took to the driving seat at a celebrity car this week.
Model Carmen Electra was among the famous faces helicoptered out to the race track 80 miles outside LA for the action. While the boys pulled on helmets and revved up to take part in the race, however, Carmen was given the task of getting things started by waving the chequered start flags in traditional fashion.
The celebrity participants were flexing their competitive muscles in new versions of the Dodge Challenger. The old edition of which was immortalised in 1971 thriller Vanishing Point. Since then it’s been brought to the attention of a whole new generation of film fans by Quentin Tarantino who featured it in Death Proof.

It meant the couple were able to explore romantic Rome together during breaks in filming on the spy thriller Duplicity, in which the Hollywood beauty stars alongside Clive Owen.
The 40-year old actress-mother of three, dressed in a pretty floral dress and a pair of on-trend wedges, strolled hand in hand with her husband of five years through the historical surroundings. In 2006, Paula Abdul appeared on “Love Smart,” a Dr. Phil special meant to help the “Idol” judge find real love. It didn’t have immediate effect, but in 2007 Abdul began quietly dating restaurateur JT Torregiani. Unfortunately for Abdul, it looks like that relationship but reality might have far from that.
“He’s not serious about it and isn’t too invested,” an insider reveal. The source also said that Torregiani “talks to other women on the phone when Paula isn’t around.”
The “American Idol” judge, 45, also didn’t make an appearance at the opening of Beso — a restaurant that JT is a partial owner of — on March 6 where, an insider said, “he was flirting with a lot of women.”
Abdul’s no-show might not have had much to do with Torregiani, but it could have been the increasingly elaborate routine Abdul requires for appearances.
One makeup artist who very recently worked with Abdul said that it routinely takes as long as four hours before she’s satisfied with her hair and makeup. “Getting her out of the house is a major effort,” said the source. “How can it not get in the way of real life?”
Although Britney’s ex-manager won’t confirm reports that he’s back working with Britney Spears, he reckons the troubled star is in “great shape.”
“I’ve seen her a few times over the past week or two. I’ve spent some time with her just socially. I’ve gone up to the house. I’ve sat with her. She’s in great shape,” he told on his FM radio show.
“I couldn’t be happier to see the condition she’s in. But this is not a time to talk about business with her.
“What she needs now is the public to be on her side and root for her, because she deserves it and that means a lot to her,” he added.
Larry praised Brit’s recent guest appearance on sitcom How I Met Your Mother and commented on her parents new found presence in the singer’s life, saying; “She needs people around her who are there for the right reasons.”
He was also optimistic about her future.
“I can’t think of a situation where somebody’s been set up for a bigger comeback than that girl,” he said.
Kevin Federline might stage the part of the pauper to his ex-wife Britney Spears, but in Las Vegas he is king.
Federline spent almost $43,000 on Las Vegas hotels, dining and shopping this year, as per documents filed by Federline’s attorney. The documents were out by the Superior Court on Thursday.
The tabs included $1,445 for clothing at Gianni Versace, $3,008 at the Hard Rock Beach Club and $3,863 at TAO nightclub.
He doesn’t want to be branded a cheap tipper. Meanwhile, his company, Gooseneck Productions, Inc., spent $841,129 in 2007 while earning $544,075. He spent much to prop up his struggling music career.
Federline had $74,102 in “music production” expenses, but earned only $9,849 income as per the documents.
The Superior Court commissioner dealing with the Federline-Spears custody battle has constantly awarded him attorneys fees.
In March, Spears’ divorce attorney, Stacy Phillips, stated that Federline’s attorneys were overbilling, and her client should not be obligated to pay.
One of his credit card statements showed a $1,100 tip for a $2,782 bill at a Los Angeles restaurant.
Federline still owed $343,834 in fees to his attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan.
Spears pays $15,000 per month in child support for her 2-year-old Sean Preston and 1-year-old Jayden James. Her monthly spousal support payments of $20,000 finished in November.
Most of Federline’s income came from his work on a nationwide car insurance ad that aired during the Super Bowl. Federline was paid $377,000 for this commercial.
Federline also pays $18,228 per month in child support, rent and private school tuition for his two children from a previous relationship.
Naomi Campbell was arrested at Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 5 on Thursday for supposedly spitting at a police officer, as per Sky News reported.
Police alleged a 37-year-old woman was arrested at the terminal on doubt of assaulting police. The Metropolitan Police spokesman rejected to recognize the woman, or declare whether the incident took place inside the terminal or aboard a plane. He spoke on condition of secrecy, in order with police policy.
BAA PLC, the company that runs Heathrow, didn’t right away return calls seeking comment. British Airways PLC, the terminal’s only occupant, referred matter to BAA and London police.
Campbell’s publicist in Los Angeles, Jeff Raymond, inscribed in an e-mail that Campbell was flying to Los Angeles for a Thursday memorial service. He stated she checked two bags in at Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 5 with ample time to spare and was notified that they would make the flight. He alleged once on the plane, however, Campbell was told one of her bags was misplaced.
Raymond said British Airways decided to sort out the situation by insisting Campbell depart the flight, and then called police to eject her from the airplane forcefully.
In January 2007, Campbell entreated guilty in New York City to offense assault for throwing her cell phone at her maid in an argument over a missing pair of jeans. She was ordered to attend a two-day anger-management course.
Campbell pleaded responsible in Toronto in 2000 to an assault allegation for beating an assistant while making a film in Canada in 1998.
Madonna has gone crazy and criticizes the Mayor of London over traffic congestion fees, mass transportation, and suggesting that musicians in general should be exempt from all taxes.
She says,“Admitting Mr Livingstone wouldn’t be getting her vote, Madonna slammed the congestion charge and warned people not to use the Tube. ‘I would make it so that aspiring musicians wouldn’t have to pay the congestion charge, or pay taxes’. ‘Now all Red Ken [Livingstone] wants is road works going on everywhere. Don’t use the Tube; can’t use the roads? No, I’ll just have to walk.”
Obviously, for someone who lives in driving a vehicle , understanding why the congestion tax is important is well beyond comprehension. As a result of the tax, the overall amount of traffic in London fell by 21 per cent between 2002 and 2006. The result is that 70,000 fewer vehicles are on the streets every day than before the charge began. Taxi use has risen by 13 per cent, bus and coaches by 25 per cent, and bicycles by 49 per cent.
Unfortunately, traffic is still an issue — as the public works sector has ramped up maintenance on roads and caused more delays.
But for someone on the cover of a green issue, shouldn’t Madonna understand the big picture of less emissions and air pollution? Or is she too busy bitching to notice?
