Newly weds Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz say they are expecting first child.

“While many have speculated about this, we wanted to wait until after the first trimester to officially confirm that we are expecting our first child,” statement on Wentz’s blog. “This is truly the most joyous time in our lives and we are excited to share the happy news and start our family.”

Simpson-Wentz, 23, and Fall Out Boy bassist Wentz, 28, exchanged vows earlier this month at Simpson’s parents’ Los Angeles-area home. Sister Jessica was the maid of honor.

The newlywed pop singer changes her name to Ashlee Wentz in private and professionally as Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, according to a report .

The couple began dating in fall 2006 and announced their engagement April 9.

Simpson-Wentz’s latest album, “Bittersweet World,” was released last month. It peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 in its first week, and tracks have logged more than 19 million plays on her MySpace page.

Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz prepared for the big day with a slew of pre-wedding celebrations. Pete Wentz was spotted leaving his bachelor party at Mr. Chows in Beverly Hills on Thursday night.

When asked about the upcoming wedding, Wentz said, “I’m a happy camper!”

Next, Wentz and his gang hit up Hollywood’s Roosevelt Hotel for more celebrating.

With well-stoked pregnancy rumors and a wedding ceremony approaching, Ashlee Simpson’s enjoying her moment in the limelight. However, if the younger Simpson sibling thinks big sis Jessica’s about to sit back in the shadows, she can never be more wrong. Star magazine stated Jessica’s hot on her sister’s matrimonial heels, and may very soon beat her down the aisle.

“Jessica would love nothing more than to get married prior to Ashlee,” a source revealed to Star. “It disturbs her that her little sister will be married and she won’t. She feels envious when Ash attains more notice.”

Rocker Pete Wentz on Monday denied that his fiancee, pop star Ashlee Simpson, is pregnant after they announced their engagement.                                                                                                                                                                                            

Earlier in the day, Us and OK! magazines published stories on their Web sites claiming Simpson was pregnant also claim the baby was due in October.

But Wentz, the bassist for rock band Fall Out Boy, told MTV News “There is a witch hunt for people to be pregnant whenever they get engaged in Hollywood … I mean we’re engaged, that’s true, and happy about it.”

In a e-mail, MTV News said it asked Wentz if he was denying the reports of Simpson’s pregnancy, and Wentz answered “Yeah.”

A representative for 23-year-old Simpson, the younger sister of actress and singer Jessica Simpson, issued a statement confirming the engagement and told “beyond that, there is nothing to add.”

Ashlee Simpson has been romantically linked to Wentz, 28, since 2006. The couple posted a statement at the social networking Web site in which they announced they would be getting married.

In addition to her career as a singer, Simpson had a role in the US television show “Seventh Heaven.” Her new album, “Bittersweet World,” is to be released this month.

Wentz co-founded Fall Out Boy in 2001, and the band has built a loyal following with albums like 2005’s popular “From Under the Cork Tree.”

Ashlee Simpson’s new album, “Bittersweet World,” has a sweet start. The release date,April 22 ,is fast approaching, Simpson faces competition she hadn’t been counting on —Mariah Carey.

Carey, who last week surpassed Elvis Presley,will release her new album, “E=MC2,” just days before Simpson, and that’s got the Simpson camp concerned.

“Ashlee needs to hit a home run with this album,” said a source . “She really had great success with her early work, but ever since the lip synching on ‘Saturday Night Live,’ she’s had something to prove. Her career literally depends on this album being successful.”
“It all started with a thought that gradually took shape. Only when a second thought comes along will I roll out my next film.”

On question of role in the film,whether his role is reflections of his personal life, he said: “No, there are no similarities.”

“For instance, in the film the character falls in love at first sight but nothing like this has ever happened to me in real life. However, I believe in what the character believes in.”

The first single from Carey’s new album, “Touch My Body,” was released ahead of the album , but other tracks from “E=MC2″ have leaked onto the Internet since the single’s release.

Industry source thinks that the culprit could be someone from the Simpson camp . “Joe Simpson has every right to be nervous about Ashlee going up against Mariah. They (the Simpson camp) are backed into a corner with this release date since they already changed it once. Their only option in fighting the Mariah machine would be to create a way to make the album’s release less newsworthy.”
